Bank Holiday Sunday Double Bill for Smithdown Festival

The Wicker Man

Empty Spaces Cinema announces two films for Sunday April 30th at the Gregson Institute on Garmoyle Road in Wavertree, Liverpool as part of The Smithdown Road Festival.

First at 2pm is the classic family action comedy The Goonies (12A) A brilliant family adventure. It tells the story of a band of kids who live in the “Goon Docks” neighbourhood of Astoria, Oregon. They attempt to save their homes from demolition, and, in doing so, discover an old Spanish map that leads them on an adventure to unearth the long-lost fortune of One-Eyed Willy, a legendary 17th-century pirate. During their journey, they are chased by a family of criminals, who also want the treasure for themselves.

Then at 6pm,  the Wicker Man is back on the big screen. One of the best British horror films of all time, it’s set on a May Day bank holiday. A policeman tries to find a missing girl on a Scottish island, but finds something terrifying.

Both screenings are paid for with a donation to the Whitechapel Centre. Free cupcake with every ticket sold. Tickets available on the door.
